McDaniel Farm Park | Duluth, Ga Fine Art Photographer

The day after New Years was foggy, cold and then rainy in the afternoon.  Days like this are wonderful to me for the soft light and the way the trees are all misty in the distance.  I took the opportunity to go out and get some new images for my continuing theme on this weather (I've been rather obsessed with it for a few years, but we don't get it much in Georgia, so I have to run out and take advantage of it when we do).  These were taken at McDaniel Farm Park in Duluth, GA, which is an historic site hosting many buildings including a farmhouse, barn and tenant house that are restored.  I used my ultra wide angle lens throughout and while some images I knew I would only want in a classic black and white, others were inspiring enough for me to take into Photoshop to add some painterly effects so that they could become fine art for a wall or gallery display.  We're expecting snow in a few days (another rare Georgia event!), so hopefully I can get more inspiring images to add to my collection this weekend! Is there any kind of weather you enjoy more than most people?  Comment below!

Here are the black and whites:

And here are the fine art edits:

SereneSereneCloudy days in an ancient field with a tiny cabin just beyond. If I could live anywhere, it would be here. The peace and serenity I imagine would soothe my turbulent mind.

Below is a self portrait.  My son actually triggered the shutter for me.  I love to do fine art portraits like this.  Having a person in the image makes it feel so much more emotional. It will also look great hanging on my wall for my kids to see and to pass on to them when I'm gone.  It's so important to have heirloom portraits like this.  It doesn't matter that I'm not the thinnest  or prettiest model (I wasn't even wearing make-up in this picture!).  Let me know if you're interested in having something like this done!
